Continuing Education Meetings
(Unless otherwise noted, Networking Meetings are held in the Bay Room in the Sobrato Center for Nonprofits – Redwood Shores)
Thursday, August 22, 2019 6pm - 8pm
Our August Continuing Education meeting will feature the Guardian Scholars Program, a resource available to our CASA youth who are thinking, planning or simply wondering about what options they have to continue their education past high school. The Guardian Scholars Program’s purpose is to create a network of support that will meet the academic, social, emotional, and financial needs of college-bound students who are transitioning out of the foster care system. The program is fully committed to empowering these youth to become self-supporting and conscious community leaders, role models and competent professionals in their fields of interest.
Linda Allen, Retention Specialist and Guardian Scholars, Student Equity & Support Programs Coordinator from Skyline College will inform CASA volunteers on what the Guardian Scholars Program has to offer and how it can benefit our youth.
CASA volunteers are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education each fiscal year (July 1-June 30). This includes a minimum of 2 continuing education meetings. Please let our Training and Volunteer, Nilda Aldredge at firstname.lastname@example.org know if you have read, watched, or listened to anything that we offer or that you have found on your own.
