Grants will be awarded to Court Appointed Special Advocates to help meet the critical needs of youth who are in dependency court or in the juvenile justice program.

Resource CASA Grant

Funding for extracurricular activities as well as other needs such as clothing, supplies, tutoring, etc. Can apply once every 12 months. Up to $250 per request per 12 month period. Any age

How to request:

To request the grant, send an email to your CASA peer supervisor or program manager, with the following information:

• Brief description of the youth (use first name and initial of last name) and his/her situation

• Information on how the money will be spent (itemized) and the impact it will have and include flyer or link

• Volunteer’s address

After request is submitted:

Once information is complete, your peer supervisor will send the information to the CASA program manager. In the absence of the peer supervisor, submit directly to the program manager. Your CASA program manager will then put the information on CASA letterhead and return it to CASA volunteer for signature. Once signed, CASA volunteer is to send it back to CASA program manager. Program manager will then send it to contact person at Philanthropic Ventures Foundation.

Youth Opportunity Grant

Funding for extracurricular activities for youth in grades 6-12. Up to $500 (given in two parts) per request. This grant is only given once in a lifetime per youth.

How to request:

To request the grant, send an email to your CASA peer supervisor or program manager, with the following information:

• Brief description of the child (use first name and initial of last name) and his/her situation

• Youth to submit a paragraph stating what activity they want to explore and what makes them passionate or excited about it.

• Information on how the money will be spent (itemized) and the impact it will have

• Volunteer’s address

Copy of the organization offering the extra curricular activity. It can be a copy of flyer or something on the Internet.

After request is submitted:

Once information is complete, your peer supervisor will send the information to the assigned CASA program manager. In the absence of the peer supervisor, volunteers should submit the request directly to the program manager. Your CASA program manager will then put the information on CASA letterhead document and return it to the CASA volunteer for signature. Once signed, the CASA volunteer is to send the request back to their CASA program manager. The Program manager will then send the request to the contact person at Philanthropic Ventures Foundation.

Fun Fund Grant

Funding to support one-time activities that would be too expensive for volunteers to cover (Great America, theatre, graduation/birthday dinner, etc.). CASAs can request up to $100 once a year (12 month period)

How to request:

To make a request to this Fund, the CASA volunteer needs to submit an email to their peer supervisors or, in the absence of their peer supervisor, to their program manager mentioning the activity, amount needed, and date of proposed activity. 

After request is submitted:

Once information is complete, your peer supervisor will send the information to the assigned CASA program manager. In the absence of the peer supervisor, the volunteer should submit the request directly to the program manager. The CASA program manager will then submit a form to the CASA program director for approval.

SEEK Grant

Through a partnership established between the Assistance League of San Mateo County and CASA of San Mateo County, it is the intent of the Assistance League to provide financial support to youth. Funding will be given to CASA on a case-by-case basis, depending on need. CASA Volunteers can request up to $300 for their youth or non-minor.

How to request:

To make a request to this Fund, CASA volunteer needs to submit an email to their peer supervisors or in the absence of their peer supervisor to their program manager with the following information: 

·      Brief description of the youth (use first name and initial of last name) and his/her situation

·      Information on how the money will be spent (itemized) and the impact it will have

·      Volunteer’s address 

After request is submitted:

Once information is complete, peer supervisor will send the information to the CASA program manager. In the absence of the peer supervisor, submit directly to the program manager. CASA program manager will then submit a form to the CASA program director for approval.
