Family Talk: Vaping

Details: A live panel of presenters from SMFCSD and SMUHSD will be hosting the discussion. All of the presenters work in the field of TUPE (“Tobacco Use Prevention Education”) and work with youth directly.Some of the topics covered will be: What are vapes and what do they contain? What are the health risks? Why do teens use them? How can you help a young person who is using nicotine? We create opportunities throughout the webinar to engage in conversation with your child/teen as we cover the above topics. Parents/caregiver(s) and your child/teen(s) are welcome to attend the talk.

April CE Meeting: Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity/Expression (SOGIE)
The San Mateo County Pride Center is excited to host a Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity/Expression (SOGIE) training on Wednesday, April 21st from 6-8pm. These trainings are also offered to schools, social services providers, and various community organizations such as CASA!
Our goal is to work with you to understand how to create affirming environments for LGBTQ youth and adults through an engaging and interactive training. Using matching games, videos, and polls, we work to build your strengths and grow as LGBTQ+ advocates.

March 2021 Continuing Education Meeting: Legal Aid Society, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status
Join us for our next continuing education meeting on March 24, 2021 from 6:00-8:00pm. Attorney Jenny Horne, from Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County, will share information on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS). She will give volunteers an opportunity to learn about definitions, eligibility, impact, obstacles, benefits and risks related to SIJS and to the children we serve.
