Children Waiting

Jennifer and Joseph

Jennifer and Joseph spent the early years of their lives in Mexico with relatives while their mother immigrated to the United States. They were reunified in 2007 when the children came to live with their mother.

Unfortunately, the transition has not been smooth – both Jennifer and Joseph have suffered significant physical abuse at the hands of their mother. They have had to adjust to a different culture and language.

Because Jennifer finally disclosed the abuse, her relationship with Joseph is now strained although both are residing in the same placement.

Nanci

Nanci’s family has an extensive history with Child Protective Services. Now at the age of 16, Nanci is pregnant and afraid to return to her parents’ home.

The family home is plagued with violence – an adult sister who is an addict, drug dealers in and out of the home and even violence between the siblings.

Nanci’s pregnancy makes finding a suitable placement even more difficult. Nanci keeps asking for a Court Appointed Special Advocate.

Lynn

Already at the young age of 3 months, Lynn has experienced much turmoil. She tested positive for methamphetamines at birth and was removed from her mother’s care.

Lynn’s mother was admitted to a residential drug treatment program where she could live with her baby.

Unfortunately, Lynn’s mother soon left her alone while she ran away from the treatment center. Now Lynn has been placed in yet another foster home.
